free

last night my son and I went to an outdoor movie event just the 2 of us. We saw Alice in Wonderland (the Disney version). Not so much a Disney fan (nor musicals) however I am a huge fan of spending time with my son. We ate junk food and talked and just hung out. It was so very nice.
This morning I took the kiddos to a local Blueberry Festival! I thought "this is going to be so great, all these free events, B.M.X. stunts, pie eating contests, tractor pull and more...yay! right."
Well my kids thought "Is she trying to torture us? We can't go on the rides, or buy treats and sweets, what fun is this?" (but seriously, who can?..2 kids at $1.50 a ticket for rides that are 3 or 4 tickets, 3 or 4 rides each, lunch and or snacks, a souvenir each I'm looking at upwards 100$ for 1/2 a day at a local festival-yikes!)
They grumped around a bit, didn't want the face painting, couldn't see the pie eating contest, I'm hungry...thirsty...tired...
but they did watch the few stunts, checked out some critters, got a helium balloon each and a trolley ride around town where my son got to ring the bell.
As much as they complained when we got back and their grandparents asked how it was they were all smiles and "it was so great..I saw this..I got to do that.."
So kindof worth it. Now I'm trying to determine if Bard at the Park tomorrow is worth the effort...hmmm...Kindof thinking...y  e  s  ..??

  1. completely creepy pictures of the police officer with the snake and the spiders!!!! EEEEK! But the rest of them were good! :) Funny how I live just blocks from the Blueberry Festival yet have never gone to it! Isn't that always the case? And the same thing would happen here too...the kids can't go on the rides and everything's so expensive so we're not buying anything, so whine whine mope mope! Glad to hear that your kids survived and had fun stories to tell later!!!)
