Worlds Greatest Bus Driver

After 33 years as the districts best bus driver my Dad retired this summer. I barely remember before the bus, I have some memories of him at Lumberland but for most of my life the bus has been in front of our house.
The neighbor kids, my sisters and I would often use the bus as backdrop or stage and even at times a hideout. So often shy little me would get approached by happy smiling kids with a big grinned introduction of "hey aren't you 'Steve the bus driver's daughter?
This June we had a small retirement party for him. Some family and family-friends. It was nice, the weather was good, the food was great and the celebration was fantastic.

Then less than a week later I did my very last bus washing.
None of us will really notice the difference until September when the rest of the family is headed off to school and Dad is sleeping in.
I guess now I will have to find myself a new Thursday job.
