"sorry not hiring"

I hate looking for work. I am o.k. with working, but looking sucks rocks.
I hear a lot of "No we aren't hiring right now but you can leave a resume with us anyway...oh no resume? sorry no we don't have application forms."
I really need to make a resume.
I can't remember dates, names and numbers......
Why can't we just walk in somewhere hiring and say "I'll do it!" and then there you go, you've got a job till you screw it up or find a better one.
It's the looking that sucks!
